Bosch Cordless Screwdriver
Have you seen the latest Bosch cordless screwdriver?
It's micro sized, lightweight, powerful and handy. The SPS 10-2 4-Volt Max Pocket Screwdriver (the name is bigger than the machine) weighs only 1 lb. and is so easy on the hand and wrist that it can be used for long periods of time by just about any family member.
This little screwdriver is perfect for woodworking projects, installing switch plates, removing and replacing hinges, tightening new screws, assembling toys and furniture, installing drapery hardware and many other small projects around the house. In fact, for some, the SPS10 -2 screwdriver may be all they need.
I recently bought the Bosch Max Pocket screwdriver. I bought it not to replace my drill but because I thought owning a small screwdriver like this would help me keep up with the never ending small jobs around the house. I have the tendency to put things off and let them pile up. I figured, if I kept this small battery operated screwdriver handy, I might fix stuff right away instead of letting the little jobs stack up.
You know the things I'm talking about, like when a kitchen cabinet door comes off or is hanging by one hinge and all you need to do to fix it is put in a couple of screws -- just kidding; but, you know what I mean.
Seems like most homeowners are faced with tightening screws, replacing switchplates or some other 2-minute job but don't want to drag out the big Bosch 18v to do it. Instead, we let a lot of small stuff pile up and in the end need a whole day to catch up on it all.
Well, that doesn't happen to me anymore. I bought the Bosch SPS 10-2 screwdriver, keep it in a kitchen drawer and whenever I need to repair something, I fix it right away. In addition, I'm also finding that other people in the house have started fixing a few things, as well -- a bonus I hadn't even thought about. Mission accomplished!
So, yes, for me, this little Bosch Cordless Screwdriver is a great find and it serves me well. Very well, in fact, I think it's the best screwdriver out there. But that's me. How about for you.
Here's a few pros and cons to consider.
The Pros:
Well, there you have it. From my perceptive, I give the Bosch Cordless SPS 10-2 4V Max Pocket Screwdriver an A+.
It 's lightweight, does a great job on small jobs, has a convenient light, the two batteries are enough to finish any job I've used it for and when I'm through, I put it in its carrying case and toss it in my kitchen junk drawer.
I know, you're probably a lot neater than I am but this works for me and saves me a lot of time.
Oh, yeah, because of the lithium ion batteries, it also holds a charge a long time when not in use. So, its ready to go when you need it.
If you think a small lithium - ion screwdriver can save you some time and you don't mind the price I think you might want to take a closer look at the 4 volt Bosch SPS 10-2.
As far as the price, It really runs the gamut. At the time of this writing, the SPS 10-2 is being offered from a low of $57.95 with free shipping and a high of $105.97. The list price is given as $143.00.
The low price is at Amazon which is the best price I could find and includes free shipping. Most major sellers that I found are offering the product around $100.

The Pros:
- This tool is tiny and very manageable. It can easily get into and out of small spaces. And, it doesn't take up a lot of space in your garage, workshop or tool bin.
- It has a LED light - Makes working in areas with dim or no light a lot easier. Certainly a lot better than trying to drill in the dark or holding a flashlight in one hand and the screwdriver in the other.
- It's cordless - No plug, No Outlet needed. Plus, the SPS 10-2 4 v Max Pocket Screwdriver comes with 2 lithium-ion batteries -- you can be charging one while using the other. Also included in the price is the battery charger.
- Like Bosch drills, the Bosch Screwdriver is ergonomically designed and offers a soft grif for your comfort
- The SPS 10-2 is a screwdriver not a drill. It does a lot of the same jobs around the house but if you have major work to do, e.g. driving long screws, putting up a deck adding a wall or room, you need a full-size drill.
- The batteries are small and need charging frequently. If you plan on working hours at a time, you must remember to charge the second battery (included in price) while using the first.
- You can buy cheaper battery operated screwdrivers. There are several small sized Ni-Cad screwdrivers on the market which may fit your needs.

The Bosch 18v Cordless Drill will make your work easier and save you time. Here's how:
1. Bosch Offers Variety and Diversification
Bosch offers a large and diverse variety of cordless drills designed to handle a multitude of jobs. With a Bosch cordless drill, you’ll never have to choose a drill that doesn’t quite suit your purpose simply because you can't find one that’s right for your project.
2. Drills in "Compact Tough” Drill Driver are designed with you in mind. The Soft grips are easy on your hands. The smaller sized drill and angled handle lets you get into small places. In combination, these enhancements let you work longer and more comfortably.
3. With Dynamic Torque (over 500 in.lbs) and high speed (1,600 RPM) you'll get tough jobs done in no time.
4. Tough Durashield Housing and Unibody Power Train - a Bosch exclusive. This drill was dropped on concrete from 10' (the average height of a one-story building) without breaking. The patented housing also protects your drill from extreme temperatures, rain, dirt and debris. Products made with Dura shield can withstand temperatures below zero degrees.
5. Bosch lithium-Ion batteries
-- Life Cycle up to 5 times longer than the competition
-- Run time 2 times longer than the competition
-- Provides minimum self-discharge
-- Has full power from the first to last screw
-- Fully charged in 30 minutes
-- 85% charged in just 15 minutes
The batteries come in Slim Pack or Fat Pack. The slim pack battery charges more quickly and weights less but offers less runtime.
The Fat Pack takes longer to charge but lasts longer. We understand that most people opt for the slim pack and alternate between the two batteries that come in the pack. If this isn’t enough for your application, you can always add the fat pack.
Only Bosch offers this option.

Bosch Impact Drill
The Bosch Impact Drill driver is like a regular drill driver except that when the impact drill senses resistance, it automatically increases torque to keep from slipping out of the screw or bolt head. Generally, with an impact drill driver, you don't need a starter hole
The advantage of this is:
1) It saves you time, and
2) minimizes the strain on your wrist and hand
Impact Drill drivers are great for large construction jobs or any project requiring the repetitive drilling of holes or screws.
While the Impact Drill is very good for doing what it was designed for, it is not usually as versatile as a regular drill and its often very noisy. If you need to use an impact drill for long periods of time you may want to wear earplugs.

BOSCH Cordless Drill Overview
Robert Bosch came to the United States in 1884 to work with Thomas Edison. He opened his own business in 1886 in Germany and in 1906 opened a plant in the United States.
Today, the Bosch Corporation has offices and plants throughout the USA and employs a large number of American workers.
Bosch is known for exceptional quality, technological innovation and outstanding customer service. It is this quality, state of the art products and excellent customer support that sets Bosch apart from its competitors.
Bosch introduced its first power drill in the early 1930's and is still a major player in the power drill market. The company offers an extensive line of both corded and cordless drills to suit every job and pocketbook. This site focuses on Bosch Cordless Drills.
Bosch's first cordless drill appeared in 1961. It was a great idea whose time hadn‘t come. The batteries made the drill heavy, they were short-lived and lacked adequate power to operate the drill properly. They also took forever to charge and cost a small fortune to replace.
At that time, most people opted for the corded drill because it was lighter, more powerful, more reliable and a lot less expensive to operate than its cordless counterpart. This is no longer the case. The gap between the cordless drill and its corded brother has closed dramatically.
Now, the cordless drill is a household mainstay and has infiltrated the workplace as well. This surge in popularity has to do with a number of innovations. Perhaps the most important of which is the development of the lithium-ion battery. Lithium-ion batteries are lighter in weight than the batteries of yore and charge much more quickly.
Bosch, a pioneer in the development of cordless drills, is responsible for many of today's' innovations and improvements. Here are a few of them:
1. Outstanding Ergonomic design -- soft grip, angled handle
2. High Speed and High Torque -- Gets tough jobs done - fast
3. Tough Dura Shield Housing - A Bosch exclusive. Bosch cordless drills with "Dura Shield" are super tough. The Dura Shield equipped drill can survive a 10’ fall landing on concrete. This housing is also designed to protect the drill from extreme temperatures, rain, dirt, and debris.
4. Bosch Lithium-Ion (Li-ion) Batteries - When it comes to li-ion batteries, Bosch rules. Bosch batteries run two times longer and have a 35% longer life cycle than its competitors -- and, Bosch guarantees it. They can be fully charged in 30 minutes and charged as much as 85% in as little as 15 minutes.
5. Electronic Cell Protection -- This is a unique battery pack Bosch design. It employs customized electronics to deliver optimal battery life and performance.
6. The Bosch guarantee ProVantage -- Drills covered by ProVantage have a two-year battery replacement guarantee, a one-year tool replacement guarantee and additional two years of free tool repair.
7. A one-call resolution hotline exclusively for ProVantage Members.
Taking all of this into consideration, I personally believe you can't go wrong with a Bosch drill.
